RPS Local in Scotland: Bringing RPS closer to you (Part 5, Interview with Giovanna Di Tano)

Article by Giovanna Di Tano, RPS local coordinator for Lothian

Since qualifying in Pharmacy in 1982 from Strathclyde University, I have to date worked in community pharmacy. After moving to Edinburgh in 1985, I have juggled work whilst being a wife and a mother to three daughters.

Latterly, in 2010 I took up the post of lead pharmacist for smoking cessation within NHS Lothian, supplying training and guidance for 182 pharmacies. Last year I became pharmacy champion for Midlothian. Most recently I have been given the opportunity to become the RPS local coordinator for Lothian and I am really looking forward to getting involved in organising events in this area of Scotland.

I recently organised a successful event for pre-registration trainees and newly qualified pharmacists. On 7 March, I’m hosting a Refresher and update of NHS Lothian PGD for Varenicline event in Edinburgh.

I look forward to meeting more of you in 2018 and hope you take advantage of the RPS events I will be organising to support you in the workplace.

Our next RPS Lothian event will be the Refresher and update of NHS Lothian PGD for Varenicline event in Edinburgh on 7 March.

All RPS Local events in Scotland in 2018 are available for booking through the RPS event page. New dates and venues are published every week. If you want to get instant updates on any of our local events, please follow @RPSScotLocal on Twitter.
