The Scottish Drugs Forum (SDF) was established in 1986 and aims to improve Scotland’s response to problem drug use. On 23 June it published a report on the challenges facing the increasing population of drug users. As a specialist pharmacist in substance misuse, this report made interesting reading for me and confirmed my view that pharmacists have an increasingly important role to play in addressing the multiple health issues of this emerging large and vulnerable group. Driving under the influence of drugs

Driving under the influence of drugs is an offence.  If you think this just means illegal drugs such as cannabis or cocaine, you’d be wrong.  The law doesn’t distinguish between illegal drugs and prescription medicines for genuine illnesses.

The  government is consulting  on plans to introduce a new offence of driving with a drug in the body, above a certain limit, to tackle the issue of drug-driving. Read more Driving under the influence of drugs
